In Tiny Umbrella it says I am on 4.0.1 so I don't think I did anything like that......it has the connect to iphone in the background and "Slide for emergency" on the slider

Check your PM

I gave you instructions. You don't have to do any activating or hacktivating as of right now. Just follow my instructions to creating and using your custom firmware and you should be phone. Just note, bc you don't have a SIM, when you create your custom fw in sn0wbreeze, go use expert mode (it'll prompt you to select) and then go to the general menu, and select "activate" so that you don't get stuck at the emergency call screen.
When you get that done, come back and let us know, then we can continue to fix the push/YouTube problem you will experience with hacktivated custom fw. This is very fixable so don't worry

Since you are at 4.0.1, easiest way to go is if you can borrow an Atnt sim card, with no service sim is fine put it in activate it to Homescreen.
Then go to Safari on your iphone and jailbreakme.com to do your jailbreak. Unlock with Ultrasn0w to unlock 1.59.00 bb.
If you can't get a sim, you have to follow Annie's instruction to restore to a hactivated custom firmware.
@Annie, he is using a Mac, so snowbreeze is not meant for him, he still needs Pwnage tools to create a custom firmware.Last edited by iYeow; 03-28-2011 at 10:06 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I think you need Pwnage tools 4.1.3 to create a custom firmware of 4.1. Remember , remember to select activate iphone while building and use Pwnage tools DFU to help you get into dfu mode , otherwise itunes will not accept your custom fw of 4.1

4.1.3 is not for the iphone 4, at least that's what I am reading....if I have 4.0.1 why not just do that? would that work?

Just do jailbreakme on safari on your iphone , you should be fine. Make sure you set your autolock to never while jailbreaking , don't let it go to sleep.

I have checked online and the sim card you have in the phone becomes the registered sim card. I have doubts about using an AT&T sim from someone else. I have nightmares about my poor iPhone now!!!!! ha ha
