Iphone 3gs need help to upgrade

Hi everyone im a newbie and i wanted to upgrade my unlock iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 firmware with baseband 05.11.07 to the 4.1 firmware or what you recommended to me! please tell me what to do coz there is a lot of apps i can't use on this firmware.Thanks

If you are already jailbroken and unlocked you don't really need umbrella... Open Cydia and one the first page you will see "MAKE MY LIFE EASIER" press that and cydia will automatically save your SHSH... If you don't see "MAKE MY LIFE EASIER" then SHSH is already saved on to Saurik's server... You can confirm this by cydia's main page(on top in green writing it will say files backed up)

If they are backed up, download PWNGTOOL and upgrade creating a custom firmware which will upgrade you to 4.2.1 and it will leave your baseband unlocked. Hope this helps

The only problem i have now is when i press cydia after 5 sec of loading it's close! could it be the cydia server is down? i try with wifi and even with my mobile internet with no luck! i try to instal cydia agian from blackrain and even switch off my iphone with no luck

when i start tinyumbrella as admin... it will says cannot start TSS service DO NOT TRY RESTORING YOUR DEVICE!!! system (PID:4) must be Killed!! what i do next? i just ignore it?

Looks like you have plenty of SHSH. I would say make a custom 4.2.1 firmware with pwnage tool or snowbreeze and restore to that in itunes.

Hi sry to bothering you again but i choose snowbreeze i put the 4.2.1 firmware and now i have 3 options BASEBaND PRESERVaTION! SIMPLe or Expert i choose? about pwnage tool i cant open .dmg maybe coz im running windows 7! and i need to put it in DFU mode or i just plug it and that simple?

Choose expert mode. You can only use pwnage tool if you have a Mac.

Hi i have one more ? 4 u if u know or happy ta assist me. I had an iphone 3g of a Friend and he updated on 4.0.2 and lost the unlock about 3 or 4 months ago! Me about 1 week ago i try to unlock it using cydia and source repo666.ultrasn0w.com/ but i didn t notice the sim card that i was using wasn't working!! And i give it to a Pro to do it!! When he gave it back to me he tells me that he downgraded to 3.1.3 and he had a problem That Cydia has gone alone!! and the wireless Tab went out to grey!! you can't get wi-fi!! when you press it it will do nothing!! And he's afriad to try to give it a try becuase if wifi stay grey out !! he tells me there is no chance to unlock it agian!! and he tells me about the sim thats not working coz i forget to take it out! coz if i try another sim at first i think i did the job right!!didn't need to downgrade the iphone! Now with 3.1.3 he can call but he cant use wifi and after 30 to 50 min the battrey will die after a Full charge!! Did you met a problem like this?

Sounds like he tries to update to the iPad baseband and had issues.
