I've been jailbroken for years, but now I'm unsure if it's worth it anymore. My iPhone was acting funny so I restored it and it was giving me error 1013. I called Apple support and they told me it couldn't successfully contact the Apple servers. In a glimpse of curiosity, I asked why they even had the Apple servers connect when doing something so simple as a restore. He responded saying that was to verify that the iOS .ipsw file matched their server's to verify there were no errors, corrupt files, or jailbroken. The fact that I've had this problem in the past and now again, I'm becoming scared I'm incapable of restoring or updating without Apple discovering I'm jailbroken and bricking my iPhone. Is there anything I can do so that Apple isn't contacted when I try to restore/update? Or anything else?
P.S. The thing where you edit the hosts file in iTunes or whatever - ya I don't understand that and if possible I'd like a different solutin.
