Question about GP Jailbreak!
Hey guys,
I have a question! I have a friend of mine coming over in a little while that needs me to downgrade her iPhone 4 back to 4.1. I know all the steps I will need to do to help her out but I wanted to know can I use greenpoison to do the jailbreak when I'm done? Is GP only meant for 4.2.1? If I can't use GP which jailbreak can I use?
Some info about her phone is:
iPhone 4 with 4.3 FW it use to have 4.1
I do know that She used limera1n to do her jailbreak.
And I'm certain that her SHSH is saved.
So can I use greenposion when all is said and done?
Thanks in advance guys

I know you can use greenpois0n rc5.x or limera1n after restoring a fresh stock copy of 4.1 to the phone, and rc6.x might (should?) work as well.
If you're feeling game, you can compile this from source and it'll work on 4.1 untethered (read all README's before proceeding with that tool, as with any self-compiled code).

I would recommend redsn0w for 4.1. It's Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 that would give you the new and faster Cydia. Any other jb for 4.1 will give the old Cydia.

WARNING! I got my version numbers wrong.
RC4 was the made-for-iOS-4.1 version of Greenpois0n, not RC5 (5 was the made-for-iOS-4.2.1 version).
Though, if RC5 doesn't work on 4.1, the good news is there are still tools that will, and it's pretty much impossible for a modern jailbreak tool to break an iPhone beyond repair.
EDIT: I agree with Annie. I personally prefer redsn0w or PwnageTool to greenpois0n for general jailbreaking.

If your iPod doesn't have SHSHs for the firmware you're wanting to downgrade with then no downgrade is possible.

Redsn0w is a jb tool and TU is not.
You would restore to 4.1, then afterwards activate the phone in iTunes, then run redsn0w to jb it.

It shouldn't get stuck in DFU.
Does she not have an official carrier's SIM card to activate with?
You would essential run the TSS Server after clicking Save SHSHs then restore to stock 4.1. Use TU to exit recovery after error 1015 then activate with SIM in iTunes. Then jb with redsn0w.

That's recovery mode, not DFU. that's why I said

But it will get stuck in recovery, that's what tinyumbrella's exit recovery is for since she is going to use 4.1.

She is has happy as I am! Thank you so much for all of your valuable input!
I have two questions for you.
Is there an app that will get rid of those annoying pop up ads? sometimes they get stuck on top of my screen
and Her phone using tiny umbrella said she had 4.2b1 does that mean I could have used that to jailbreak her to 4.2.1?

Great

4.2b1 is a beta that is for developers.
You'd have to have actual 4.2.1 to restore to that.
For the ads, I'm not sure what you're referring to. On what screen are these ads showing up on?

Yeah I don't know about ads. I have never had that happen. I'm inclined to think its a problem with your phone or the jailbreak. Remind me, what phone do you have and what did you jb it with?
