Default iPhone 3G FW 3.1.2 thinking of upgrading to 4.x

    Hi all,
I have everything download and already hook up my iPhone to computer for restore. About my iPhone 3G FW 3.1.2 Jailbreak Blackrain Unlock Blacksnow. I have my shsh blobs save for 4.1 and 4.2.1 other version keep saying Cydia server overload. I just can't seem to save for 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2 or it's too late when it keep saying Cydia server overload? Now, before I attempt to jailbreak and unlock my Iphone 3G to iOS 4.x. I would like to know which 4.x FW is best for my phone? Only can use Windows as I don't have a Mac.

    1. I was thinking of iOS 4.0.1 or 4.0.2? (Does Jailbreakme still work?)
    2. iOS 4.1 (Don't want to try Ipad 6:15 BB)
    2. Another choice might be attempting Snowbreeze method and jailbreak/unlock to 4.2.1? While keeping my BB 5:11 so I can still unlock using custom FW 4.2.1. Is it good idea? Not sure how many success with this method. (No Mac just Windows7)

I have read a lot and not much info on Snowbreeze jailbreak. How slow will the phone be if upgrading iPhone 3G to iOS 4.x? Is it like extremely slow? I want to upgrade to 4.x because of some apps. Can anyone guide me to the right direction. Thanks for helping a newcomer.

Stay away from 4.0-4.0.2, they are unbearably slow on iPhone 3G. 4.1 or 4.2.1 are alright, just be sure to restore to the custom firmware to preserve your baseband. Even 4.1 and 4.2.1 will run slower than the firmware you are on now though.

If my phone is slow for 4.0, then my phone should only stay at 3.0? All iPhone 3g will be force to buy new iPhone? Then how to use good apps that are for 4.0? Also is snowbreeze reliable or safe? Wish I had a mac then it be much easier.

If you use the latest version of snowbreeze you should be fine. It isnt the most stable of jailbreaks though. Personally with iPhone 3G I would never go past 3.1.3.

It will preserve your baseband. Its best not to hactivate with it, thats normally where you see issues come up with it.

Then should I just use redsnow and activate with SAM? Will I still have any issues? Another thing, I only have my shsh blobs save for 4.1 and 4.2.1. For Iphone 3G I can always downgrade to 3.1.2 - 3.1.3? How do I go about doing it if I don't like 4.2.1. Thanks for great help so far.

Ya, you can always go back down to 3.1.3. If you dont have a official sim you can activate with then just choose activate in snowbreeze. Then once you have restored to the custom firmware you can run SAM to fix push notifications.
