Well you're going to have a tethered jailbreak on 4.3. If you don't have SHSHs you can't get to 4.2.1 anyway so I don't think your restore would work.

So do the custom 4.3 route. Every time your phone turns off or reboots you'll have to boot tethered with redsn0w.

is there anyway to get the shshs?? so i literally need to (everytime i reboot) connect to the pc, and run a jailbreak?? ive never dealt with a tethered , ive only done black rain and redsnow untethered.

    i need to
    1. run the 4.3 in snowbreeze and create custom..
    2. shift restore to the 4.3 custom
3 run redsnow , and pick tethered and pick the 4.2.1 ive downloaded

im sorry im a dummy about this

If you didn't have them saved before apple stopped signing them a few days ago, you can't get SHSHs for anything below 4.3.

    You almost have it right.

You need to restore to the custom fw you made, then you have to reboot your phone. Then you would open redsn0w and browse to the 4.2.1 ipsw, then select to boot tethered on your phone. Then your phone should boot up.

Blackra1n was back on 3.1.2 so there isn't a tethered jb for that. 3.1.3 and up the new boot devices are tethered. You can see if your bootrom is new or old, just to confirm if it will be tethered or not. Use iDetector.

I assumed it was new bc of your previous problem, but I could be wrong.

But if it is tethered then yes you'd have to prevent your phone from rebooting or shutting off if you're not around your computer.

no problem. Well you should check for SHSHs then.

Go to thefirmwareumbrella.blospsot.com and download TinyUmbrella.

Click Save SHSHs and post the log for me to see.

Sorry you need to google for sn0wbreeze for 4.3. It's a beta. I can't remember what the version number it is so google for sn0wbreeze 4.3 and see what you get.

The SHSHs thing, try putting your phone in recovery mode then try the Save SHSH

You basically just open redsn0w, browse to 4.2.1, and select "boot tethered" and that's it

Edit: yeah let it reboot and follow what I said.

Sorry if I'm not responding after this, bedtime. Final exam tomorrow. Hope you get it all sorted out, if not I'll get back to you tomorrow for sure

i.annie just wanted to say that I appreciate all your help.. After a rough sleep deprived night i got everything to work just not used to tethered jb's.. it seems that its really a step back from being able to just do what you want in regards to cydia and its apps on the fly. ill manage the only real problem ive noticed is at every reboot i have to physically enter my mms settings.. anyway around that?

Hey, I'm glad you sorted most of it out. As for your MMS, I'm not sure. It could be a number of things. It could be the instability of the jailbreak, it could be that bc it is tethered it won't stick, etc. I'm not familiar with 4.3 yet, because it is pretty new, so I don't have a solution for you. But maybe start a new thread on that, maybe someone else with your setup will know
