Thread: Downgrade CONFIRMED!
09-29-2007, 07:23 PM #1
Thanks to great finds by members, WE ARE NOW ABLE TO DOWNGRADE OUR PHONES!!!! I just wanted to make a simple guide for people with PC's to follow
Start iTunes and plug in your 1.1.1 phone
In 1.1.1, hold Power and Home buttons and count 10 seconds (your phone will turn off, just keep counting), release the power button but continue to hold the home button until your phone is recognized by iTunes. (phone screen will be blank)
A message will pop up and ask you to restore your iPhone. Holding down the SHIFT key, click on the restore button. Navigate to your 1.0.2 software
When it's done, you will get an ERROR, click OK. Your phone should show a yellow triangle. Leave iTunes running and run AppTap.
AppTap might encounter an error as well, however, it will bring your phone to the Activation screen. Once again, start iTunes, ignore all messages from it, and run AppTap. Now it will jailbreak your phone and install Installer. (You may have to retsart your PC after arriving at the activation screen if iTunes isn't recognizing your phone)
Simply use iASign or whatever you use to bypass activation.
Your phone is now back to 1.0.2.
(I am using iTunes 22.214.171.124)
WI-FI, calls, everything fully functional!
It seems now that Apple support is telling everyone
Let itunes open automatically it will tell you that the phone needs to be restored!!!
If using a mac press Alt. and select the 1.0.2 firmware! IT WILL LOAD! However there will be an error at the end of it. ( thats ok) shut down restart! go to iNdependence!
Acitvate phone! select the old 1.0.2 firmware! it will work. it may error a couple times. try again and again and it will work! I just reactivated my iphone to 1.0.2 when i had 1.1.1 i am not kidding/
I downgraded to 1.0.2 from 1.1.1....
Used AppTap to jailbreak!! (Make sure iTunes is open when you run apptap)
From there did the iAsign activation
NOW MY PHONE"S BACK!!!Works indeed! Wifi as well. used wInstaller to jailbreak, worked first time. Used iBrickr to upload lockdownd. Iphone activated. Firmware 1.1.1
About to run iUnlock/AnySIM to test. Will post as soon as have answers.
If you need to work around the activation again for whatever reason use THIS method: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5273

wow... If apple support is telling people how to do this makes me think they realised they might have screwed up with their strong arm tactics.

The stuff on the IRC chat is that the baseband is still 04999, meaning phone calls with a sim card other then AT&T will not work. We're trying to see if the baseband can be reflashed, but i cannot confirm anything.

Im just making sure because some people are rising hell over there about IMEI being the default 0049 and not being able to make calls. I want to be 100% sure I can do this.
