iPhone 4 4.2.1 stuck on connect to iTunes

Hi,

I was using my iPhone 4 jailbroken on 4.2.1 just fine until i realized that the "Slide to unlock" was missing on the Lock Screen so I decided to perform a restore.

The restore has never been successful every time I've been doing it(Around 5 times). I was running on 4.2.1 and I want to stay on 4.2.1.

Is there away to keep it at 4.2.1 or in worst cases going through 4.3 then going back down to 4.2.1?

Did you save your shsh for 4.2.1? With tinyumbrella or cydia?

1) unsure if Apple has stopped signing 4.2.1 yet. So SHSHs may or may not be needed.

2) you'll likely get an error like 1015 when restoring to 4.2.1 if either Apple is still signing or if you have SHSHs and use it.

3) when that error occurs, simply run greenpois0n on it to get it out of recovery mode.

4) simply activate with SIM after but if you don't have a SIM, simply run Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 to bypass emergency call screen.

Assuming 4.2.1 is still being signed, go ahead and restore to it. If you get error 3194 it has stopped being signed and you will need SHSHs to do the restore. If it has stopped being signed and you don't have SHSHs saved for 4.2.1, youll be forced to go to 4.3 and cannot come back down to 4.2.1.

I remember seeing the saved SHSH on top of the screen when opening up Cydia.

Do i need to do anything before restoring to 4.2.1?

Well first try a restore without TinyUmbrella to 4.2.1. Because you don't want to use that if Apple is still signing it, some people run into problems restoring by using SHSHs when it isn't needed for 4.2.1.

If a standard restore doesn't work, then you want to try it with TinyUmbrella.

You should back your stuff up manually like photos and videos. Music apps and contacts are fine they will sync back in. Because you don't want to restore from a back up (your problem my carry over if you do) you'll need to pull your photos and videos to your computer.

For contacts in iTunes info tab, sync to windows contacts so you can sync back in later.

For apps don't forget to transfer purchases (right click device in iTunes and select transfer purchases) so any apps in your phone that isn't in iTunes will be saved into iTunes.

You will lose game save data though.

You never used TinyUmbrella before right? If you have, you better open it and go to advance and unselect the point to Cydia's server option first. Then try it.
