Iphone 4 stuck in DFU
Have a iphone 4 originaly 4.0.2 with 1.59 bb. Decided to update and tried to update to 4.2.1 through tinyumbrella and itunes, well now its stuck in DFU, my ssh are not saved and I cant seem to do anything with it. Everytime I try to do a restore I get the 3XXX error or if I try custom then 1600. I did an exstensive search on the web and tried, limerain, snowbreez custom ispw, ireb. The only thing I am thinking is there anything I can do with 4.3 since this is the only thing that Apple is signing, but I need to keep 1.59 bb so I can unlock. Am I dreaming or is this possible? All the help is much apreciated.

Step 1: Download TinyUmbrella
Step 2: Connect your iPhone 4 & Launch TinyUmbrella
Step 3: Click On the “Save SHSH” button
Step 4: Now, Click on start the “TSS Server” button
Step 5: While the TSS server is running, Launch iTunes
Step 6: Now, Click on Restore in iTunes (Don’t Click on Update)
Step 7: During the Restore Process, iTunes will give you Error 1013. Don’t panic, this is good. This error means your baseband has been preserved. Exit out of iTunes. Your iPhone should be in recovery mode.
Step 8: Next, jailbreak your iPhone 4 with Greenpois0n RC5. This will jailbreak your iPhone 4 as well as kick it out of Recovery Mode.
Step 9: FOR ACTIVATING WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL SIM (T-MOBILE, ETC) LOOK OUTSIDE OF THIS QUOTE AND FOLLOW Step9B
If you have an official sim, just follow Step 9A.
Step 9A: Because Greenpois0n does not support hacktivation, you will need to find an official SIM card (doesn’t need to be activated), insert it in the iPhone 4 and connect to iTunes. This will bring you to the homescreen. Once you are on the homescreen, you will no longer need the official SIM card.
Step 10: Install ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock your iPhone 4 on baseband 1.59.00.
If your shsh is not save you have to upgrade to 4.3 and lose the unlock or try to kick it out with Tinyumbrella first.Last edited by MoDaLoT; 03-14-2011 at 05:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Sorry there is no way you have too update that why it's VERY VERY VERY important to save your shsh any time you get a new phone you need to run Tu too save your shsh.

Did something intresting, started TU, went to ireb, pushed I4 got into DFU, went to itunes and restored with 4.2.1 custom. Went through with no errors except when it said wait 10 sec to reboot it just stayed in DFU. Opened redsnow 96b8 and uploaded 4.2.1 restore, uncheked all and went at it. went through no problems. Went to GP rc5 and went through that, saw stuff on the screen. After it was done went back to Redsnow and did tethered boot, and the phone turned on!!! It was on 4.2.1 and 1.59 I immediately went to TU and saved my SHSH. It saved them as 4.3. Now here is the kiker, left the phone on the table and it went into regular sleep mode, and would not turn back on. Did the GP and Redsnow again, it all came back again, I was able to unlock no problem. Then it went sleep and gone again. Now tried to bring it back and it does come back however the screen is black, it has all the right sounds as if its on and TU sees the iphone but the screen is black. I know this is very unconventional to say the least, but I do have my shsh for 4.3 now and how do I get the phone back to normality???

Sounds like you've got a firmware installation without the corresponding (correct) SHSH blobs--in this case, you're missing the 4.2.1 SHSH blobs, hence the erratic shutting-off and hanging tethered behavior.
Booting your device tethered via redsn0w should get it working again, but only until you leave it sitting for too long or it turns off, etc.
I'd recommend using a 4.3 PwnageTool bundle (Google is your friend) and building a custom 4.3 (tethered but far more stable than your current installation) firmware file to tide you over until an untethered jailbreak is released.

The reason your phone not show up in TU because you need install Iphone Driver first. Download Itunes to your computer, then the computer should regnize the the phone..... then you can do the normal update. FYI, you need custom firmware 4.2.1 to jailbreak and preserve your baseband, TU will not work with 4.2.1 only 4.1.

Folks, I would like to remind you of this site's policy against distributing custom firmware, even via private message.
I know this because I used to do it myself, then the Grand Poo-Bah decided that any CFW distributions, even via private messages, are no longer allowed... Just FYI.
Sorry to interrupt, carry on.

My phone is 4.02 with 1.59 BB.
I made to step 7 with error 1013, but the phone went back to DFU mode according to TU log. The screen went black again.
I proceeded to step 8, jailbreak seems to kick off with white screen and follow with a bunch of commands. When it done, it went back to DFU mode and screen went black again.
Any help?
