Why do these restores never work?

This is getting ridiculous. With every iDevice I have, they don't restore properly. official apple releases, pwnage, doesn't matter, they stop restoring at like 60% and dont move. Why does apple have such a horrible restoration process and how can I fix this? Most of the time it works on my parents laptop but restoring my iPad now just doesn't work. Stuck on 60%. Why???

on my phone i did, but not on this ipad. i have the client program on my computer but i cant delete it. i go into activity monitor and quit it but it keeps reopening and i cant find the file anywhere on the computer to delete it

edit: found out how to remove it, what a PITA but its uninstalled, going to see if this does anything
