    Default iPhone Woes

Everytime I try to restore an iPhone 3GS I continually get error 1601, but when restoring, iTunes says its preparing the iphone for restore but it never actually prepares, it continually shows the apple logo on and off until I get error 1601. I'm open for suggestions.

Windows or Mac? What version of iTunes do you have and what firmware are you trying to restore to?

I assume you are putting it into DFU when you are doing it right? DO you have a Mac that you can try it on?

Manually entered dfu, then used redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 and ireb r4. My friend just bought an imac from a college student but the kid forgot to mention he left a password on it, it only has itunes 9 and I tried installing itunes 10 but it asks for the password which I obviously dont have and we tried calling but the phone number is disconnected.

That error is sometimes a pain to get around. Try uninstalling itunes then reinstalling it and rebooting.

I just installed itunes 10.2.1.1 on the win 7 ultimate and im downloading 4.3 now to it, so I'm gonna try that once it downloads. I might have a macbookpro on the way.

Whats bothering me the most is that the iphone won't even prepare for a restore, it just shows the apple logo on and off.

I think that is a battery error.

Just checked the iphonewiki and it said it might be a battery problem too.
