    Default Restore 4.2.1. fresh.

    So I have a problem.

I jailbroke 4.2.1 on my iPhone 4 with GreenPoison. Eventually, Cydia began having issues where if I tapped on "Packages" it would crash and shut down. I could live with that... but now the Mail App is frozen out (greyed) so I cannot turn off Push, or edit my mail information. My battery is dying from this every 15 minute searching for new mail crap. So I thought I would restore and jailbreak again to fix it.

Problem is, 4.3 iOS came out. I cannot restore to 4.2.1 anymore through iTunes!

Can I get some help with restoring to 4.2.1 (if possible)? The jailbreak I got covered... but I cannot restore to 4.2.1 to get the jailbreak working.

P.S., just using GreenPoison again did nothing...

    Thank-you in advance.

Download 4.2.1 manually (downloads section at top of page) and shift/option restore to it in itunes.

    Genius!

One problem. It comes as a ZIP... which is not an IPSW.
There are a boat load of files in there that are also not an IPSW.

Either rename the extension from .zip to .ipsw or redownload it with firefox.

Wow... I was so stupid about this. LOL
Why didn't I think of unhiding file extentions and renaming it? Not like I didn't do it with my 3G 3.1.2 and Limerain.

Thanks you two! Sorry for my absentmindedness. You two are awesome!

Are you asking how to restore to 4.2.1? Do you have your SHSHs saved.
