    Default Update issue...

    Hi, I have an iPhone 4 on version 4.2.1 that was jailbroken using green poison. Deciding I didn't care for the jailbreak anymore, I went to update to 4.3 today via Itunes and it won't let me... it then asked to restore my phone, which I did, then it gave me some unknown error and claimed my phone could not be restored. It's now stuck in recovery mode... Any advice?

    What error message number did you receive?

    What baseband version was your iPhone on pre-restore?

    Have you used TinyUmbrella on your restoring computer before?

    Are you using iTunes 10.2.1?

    Error message 1013, I can't remember the baseband version, I haven't used Tinyumbrella on this iphone... only my old iphone 3g that I've since gave away, and yes I'm using iTunes 10.2.1

    1013 = baseband didn't get upgraded successfully. Which usually means there's still a host-file edit for gs.apple.com.

    If you don't (and never see yourself needing) use ultrasn0w for a SIM unlock, make sure there are no entries in your host file (/etc/hosts on OS X, %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\ on XP/Vista/7) for gs.apple.com.

    Otherwise, use TimyUmbrella's ExitRecovery feature or greenpois0n to bypass that unbootable recovery mode. TU won't jailbreak you (and is Mac-only at the moment) but GP will.

    Alright, I went ahead and deleted the host file for gs.apple.com. I tried a restore but I got the same result... still stuck in recovery mode. So I should try using tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery mode?
