how to restore pwned 3G 4.2.1 w/ BB 06.15.00

I have 3G with 4.2.1 with 6.15.00 baseband.
What is the right procedure to restore so that you can erase all the contents on the phone?
When you use erase all contents and setting in the phone, I heard it gets stuck at reboot as iOS4.2.1 is conflicting with BB 6.15.00. (am I right?)

anyway, Can I just use custome 4.2.1 firmware to restore (activated without BB 6.15.00 since this phone is already with 6.15.00?)

Yep, restoring to custom firmware specifically set without a baseband update will wipe your phone. Make sure to not restore from backup or set up as a new iPhone after completing the restore (and kicking out the 10xx error).
