Just bought a 3GS with 4.2.1 FW and 05.15.04 baseband. I've been reading that if I unlock it might not work correctly, is that true??
Sometimes with an unlock you have to manually type in settings for mms and data to work but other than that it works just fine

Maybe but there is a fix for just about anything that may happen and it's really depends on what carrier your tryin to use.
Yes, upgrading your baseband to unlock (to the iPad baseband) could result in loss of functionality of your GPS.
