bit of advice needed for noob.

hey guys/girls.
i am going to be jailbreaking my ipohone 4 running 4.2.1
i have heard a lot of talk about ipsw files for snowbreeze and redsnow.
but dont know wherre to find the ipsw file.

also if i used greenpoison to jailbreak do i need to bother about ipsw files ?

jsut want the easiest possible method too jailbreak 4.2.1

You can download .ipsw files from the downloads section above.
Greenpoison doesnt require these so is easier. Just depends if you need to preserve baseband or not whether which tool you should use.

i dont need to preserve my baseband because it is officially unlocked through vodaphone ....

Yup, greenpoison should work fine for you then.

Follow these steps to ensure it works, some people have trouble getting it to go through the first time.

1) turn device off
2) follow timer in GP
3) it will probably fail, close GP but don't do anything with your device just leave it as it is
4) open GP again and do it over
5) repeat above steps until you get to click Jailbreak button
6) when that occurs, do not let go of the home button. Keep holding until all the codes are done and the apple/greenpois0n boot logo shows up.
