Hello, first time posting, somewhat new to jailbreaking on iPhone 4...
Tonight I opened Cydia and updated SBSettings. When I restarted the springboard there was a new app on my phone: iNews.
I have no idea what it is, but I can only guess that updating installed it. I uninstalled SBSettings and it is still there. So I did the following:
I first tried to uninstall it through the Manage Packages menu, but when I scroll down to the "i"s -- just before where iNews would be listed -- Cydia crashes. Same thing when I try to find it by Search, although a little more interesting. Just typing "inew" in the search box will cause Cydia to close. Or if I search "news" then scroll down to "inews" it also closes.
Then I tried to re-jailbreak using greenpois0n (when in doubt, reboot, right?) but did not have any better luck in Cydia. Didn't think I would, but figured it might be worth a chance.
I tried googling this problem and couldn't come up with a single hit actually about this strange app. Their facebook page appears to be just spam, and the app itself opens to a blank "Welcome" screen with another "Website" tab that loads year-old posts about sports and one listing the TechTechMan.com website which is also spam.
Anyone else encounter this and have a solution? I'm stuck and out of ideas. Thanks
I cannot find a fix for this at all, i was curious if you may have found anything out about this.
I woke up this morning with the same app installed, and I just cannot figure out a way to get rid of it, I tried to download ifile to delete the files for inews, but Cydia closes for me as well. Please any info?
Thanks DevouredDreams... I had thought of that but didn't find the app right away. This morning I had some more time to look through all the apps and found it. It wasn't named the same as the app which is why I must have missed it when hurriedly scanning
@hplar11 From /var/stash/Applications.pwn (also a shortcut from the root folder) delete uTubeNews.app then respring.
I should have been a little more thorough... So the app is now gone but the buggy behavior in Cydia still remains.
