Unhappy Please help! :( Stuck at apple logo and no itunes recognition!

Earlier today I rebooted my iphone 3gs, running 4.1, after installing a couple packages from cydia. Ever since then it has been stuck at the apple boot logo. Itunes even stopped recognizing my phone! I'm able to get it into recovery mode and DFU mode but itunes still refuses to recognize it. Someone please help me I've been at this for almost 14 hours. I really really need it fixed.

So you've gotten into into both DFU and recovery? I wouldn't be surprised if DFU doesn't help but recovery always does. iTunes will always recognize the recovery mode. Check your USB drivers and sync cable, and maybe even try a different computer. You'll want recovery mode for sure to restore.

I was checking the drivers earlier, but I wasn't quite sure what to look for. When I was in the device manager, all that was coming up when I would plug my phone in was "apple mobile device". That was only in recovery mode. Itunes didn't recognize it though. But I plugged in my sister's iphone though to check and it recognized hers immediately. Thank you so much for the quick reply by the way. I've really been stressing out over this.

Apple mobile device, if that shows up your driver is fine.

Since your sister's is working, it is likely your phone.

iTunes really should detect it in recovery mode. You are getting the USB+itunes screen right?

I installed itunes on another computer and itunes recognized it in recovery mode. I made a custom firmware with redsn0w and it gave me an error 21 when I tried to restore. I then tried to restore with the custom firmware while in dfu mode and it gave me an error 1600. All it took from that point was for me to use ireb to get rid of the 1600 error. I'm happy to say that everything is up and running again! : ) Thanks for your help!
