    Default Restoring

Currently my iPhone 3Gs is jailbreaked using redsn0w

So i wish to restore it. Current info are

    iOS: 4.2.1
    Baseband: 5.15.04

Can i just restore using iTunes using stock iOS?

Or i need a custom firmware in order to preserve the BB?

i've tried using Spirit and redsn0w to jailbreak... but i still face the problem of iPhone total black out when using it...

iPhone keep shutting down after jailbreak

so i would like to try to use limera1n

Your baseband is already up to date so you need to preserve it. Just do a standard restore.

Usually major firmware updates will update the baseband. 4.0 was one. 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 were minor updates so the bb didn't change. 4.1 and 4.2 were I guess "major" enough that the bb is updated. You'll usually know just by checking MMi this site is pretty up to date with those things. But Apple likely won't say.

You said your bb is 5.15.04, that's your latest bb as of right now for your device, so no you don't need to preserve it. It isn't unlockable anyway.
