    Default iPhone 3G 4.1 FW w/ 6.15.00 BB Jailbreak/Unlock Help

    Hi everyone.

I hate asking for question after on forums because I know that chances are the answer is in the FAQ or Sticky or a quick search will result in me finding a post that has been resolved with someone asking the same question before.

But I'm totally lost here. I tried everything possible and it's not working.

A friend of mine attempted to Jailbreak and Unlock an iPhone 3G and failed miserably.

The device is currently on 4.1 with 6.15.00 Baseband with no Cydia.

It does not allow me to restore it with any custom 4.1 made from either Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool.

It does not allow me to restore to stock 4.2.1.

Nor does it allow me to restore to any custom 4.2.1 made with either Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool.

According to F0recast, it is jailbreakable, but not unlockable.

I am not able to do both.

Have access to a Mac and a PC with all software/stock firmware/baseband.

    Advice?

The custom firmware to 4.2.1 should be fine so long as it does not contain the iPad baseband since the bb is already at 6.15.00.

If you're still having trouble doing so, restore to a stock 3.1.3. You wont need SHSHs for that.

I'm thinking you're not setting the device into pwned DFU mode with redsn0w first before restoring to custom 4.2.1.

So basically you'll want a custom 4.2.1 without iPad bb and use redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 to put into pwned DFU, then restore to the custom fw. Note that Sn0wbreeze firmwares can be problematic for iPhone 3G so I would suggest either making one with PwnageTool or if you don't have a Mac, find one online.
