Default Advantage of Having Baseband 6.15.00?

Is there any advantage of having the Baseband 6.15.00?
I'm asking because I have already Jailbroke and upgraded to the 6.15.00 with Redsnow 0.9.6b6..

Only to unlock, nothing else. Disadvantage is GPS may malfunction.

I upgraded from 3.1.2 with my 3GS to 4.2.1 and it was jailbroken with blackra1n and unlocked.. Sounds like I didn't need to install the 6.15.00 when I jailbroken with redsnow.. So there was no advantage at all for me to upgrade it sounds like..

Isn't 6.15.00 required for SAM? And isn't SAM required by hacktivators on 4.2.1 to keep their battery from draining?

If your iphone is factory unlocked, then you can restore to any firmware , yet still be unlocked for all GSM.
If your iphone is not factory unlocked, then you can only use it on one carrier. But in order to be able to use it on all GSM carriers, you need to software unlocked it.
    Only baseband of 05.14 , 05.15, 02.10, 03.10 currently cannnot be unlocked by Ultrasn0w.

Yes, but I couldn't use the sam process where I had to deactivate the phone and activate it through iTunes because the redsnow would just freeze everytime I tried..

    Yes if you're on 4.1 or 4.2.1, redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 has the option.
