Can I jailbreak a previously activated phone without sim card?
I have a used iphone 3G that's locked to AT&T firmware 4.2.1 and BB 5.15. I would like to jailbreak (and unlock at a later time as I will use it in Canada, but don't want to upgrade BB to 6.15), but I want to avoid the battery drain issue. Can I jailbreak without the sim card, and avoid having to hacktivate it?
I've never done it but there is a tool called 'SAM' it fools iTunes in to thinking the SIM is inserted..... do a bit of googling or wait for the knowledge to follow!!!
OK, thanks guys. I'm not in a hurry to unlock right now, just jailbreak.
Just wasn't sure about having to have an AT&T sim card cause I'm up in Canada without access to that provider (bought the phone off someone in the US from eBay).
Is there anything I should do to the phone before I jailbreak like saving SHSH's with tinyumbrella?
Is there an advantage to using either redsn0w over sn0wbreeze?
After it's jailbroken (not unlocked), can I restore the phone to an "un-jailbreaked" phone (don't know why I would, just curious)?
redsn0w gives more options when jailbreaking, redsn0w is more reliable IMO, Yes you can do a restore to remove the jailbreak. You can save shsh in cydia after you jailbreak by clicking "make my life easier"
