Hello, I have searched, read, and tried just about everything here in the forums and on other sites trying to get this to work. I have worked on it for the past week and still have not been able to see any resolve on the issue. Here is the situation:
iPhone 3G was mistakenly upgraded to 3.1.3 stock firmware
Currently IAW f0recast:
3G 3.1.3
Base Band: 05.12.01
BL: 5.8
Model: MB046
Note both Current itunes and 9.0 are avail to use. This is what I have tried so far.
Cooked a new 3.1.3 using sn0wbreeze, cooked a new 4.1 as well using the correct version sn0w for each. Everything I have tried will result in an error message; I have even used iReb to attempt to fix that.
I have downloaded custom 3.1.3 and tried to restore to that on both the new and 9.x version iTunes. Nothing works, I have held off from upgrading to another level because I don’t want to jack it up any further. Please I need some direction and guidance on what I need to do. Currently the phone is used as an iTouch because it will not work in Korea. I have a Korean 3GS 16G I use here, and it’s my lifeline. But in the states it’s my primary phone, I want to get it back up and running with t-Mobile and send it home for my wife to use. Please note i do not have access to a AT&T Sim, i'm serving in Korea, so we all shut our old accounts down with military orders prior to coming over here.
Jailbreak it at 3.1.3 with redsn0w 0.9.4, when using redsn0w browse to 3.1.2 ipsw, choose install cydia in redsn0w options, once iphone is jailbroken, open cydia, do complete upgrade, reboot, open cydia, search for ultrasn0w 1.2, install, reboot, and you're done.
Iyonmaster, first I want thank you for all you do with our miltiary , I salute to you sir.I understand u have cook a custom firmware 4.1 what happen? It's well known that 3 G run great on 3.1.3 but u are limiting ur self to all the stuff 4. Xx. Has to offer let alone lots of apps require 4. Or higher. If u are accustom to snowbreeze I would be willing to say cook another custom firmware of 4.1or 4.2.1 which ever you perfer, is my understanding this phone will be use In the state right? Which ever one u decide. to use, download accordingly snowbreeze 2.2.1 for 4.2.1 look up for 4.1 can't remember of hand. Open snowbreeze, browse to the stock fw u've dl( let's just stick with4.2.1 for now) it'll verified, select expert, general, unchecked all, skip custom apps, select build ipsw, let it cook follow instruction to put phone in DFU mode, open itune it will reconigze it's in restore mode, hold down shift on key board and click on restore and that's it after it's done check you iOS and bb if all is good open cydia let it load up then search for ultrasnow 1.2 install, confirm and now your phone is unlock as well. The only catch you will need somebody att sim card to activate the phone once thats done replace with any other card reboot and ur good. Since the phone is being ship back to the state ur wife can borrow the att card to activate that's it even if u bring it to Korea put the sim card in reboot and ur good to go
Don't have to cook any firmware, stay at 3.1.3 for 3g iphone ( speed and performance). Just follow iPittsburgh intructions. If you go to ios 4.0 or higher, you will regret and want to turn back to 3.xx.
Thanks iPittsburgh, i followed the instructions exactly, and it worked. what i was doing was checking an additional block that was on one of the picture guides. This was throwing the whole thing off because the phone is not already activated. Something that simple can make the smartest person feel like a dumb arse.
@ Neil001 I was thinking about upgrading to 4.xx but since this latest BS i'm going to just keep using it as an iTouch. I'll order her a 4th Gen iTouch to use with skype and just keep calling her cell with my Skype. Cant beat unlimited US calls for $6, way better than these over priced phone cards.
Besides, This way at least she can use the front and rear camera on the 4th gen to umm take into the bedroom for a little late night fun lol. Thanks for the help both of you, consider the issue closed.
