Sn0wbreeze can be quite buggy, especially for the iPhone 3G. PwnageTool is more stable, if not one of the most stable jb tools.
But yes they both do the same thing, if you can get Sn0wbreeze to create a custom fw that actually works, then it is fine after. iPhone 3G just doesn't play well with Sn0wbreeze most of the time, but for any other device compatible with it, it's alright.

Yeah, and it would be nice if sn0wbreeze worked as nice as pwnagetool. But now that iYeow and captain chaos have informed me on vmware and how to use it properly, I'll be running OSX virtually just for pwnagetool.
