I have questions on these 2 methods of jailbreaking. On my iPhone 3GS, I always used Pwnage Tool to preserve the baseband. On my iPad, though, there is no need to preserve the baseband, right? So is it good enough to use greenpois0n to jailbreak 4.2.1 on the iPad? What are the pros and cons of using either method? Hope someone can clarify this for me. Thanks.
I don't care about any animated bootlogos, but greenpois0n seems more convenient since I can just run it. With Pwnage Tool, I'd have to restore my iPad with the custom firmware. And since there is no difference between the 2, I'll use greenpois0n on my iPad.
I have an iPhone 3GS on 4.2.1 I was able to use Pwnage Tool 4.1 to restore my iphone to a custom 4.2.1 FW, preserving the baseband as I use T-mobile. Coming from 4.1 I am obligated to use Pwnage tool as i need to preserve my baseband and there is no unlock for 3.10.01 or 2.10.04. If and when there is an unlock released I suppose I could restore to stock 4.2.1 ,updating baseband, get Greenpois0ned, and ultrasn0wed, boot logos obtained. Im looking for a solution for the meantime, I have this Pwned 3gs on 4.2.1 but i want boot logos I tryed to Pois0n it but the Jb process gets held up near the end sumthing like "unable to mount user filesystem" this is after the "animated" library is built or whatever, but i still have no boot logos. Installing animate from cydia does nothing for me either. I think boot logos are dope and i'd like one, if there is a solution im overlooking I'd appreciated it pointed for me. Thx -Techguy9312
yup i have PT too but it doesn't allow bootlogos. use sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 (currently using now...) from ih8sn0w. it fixes iBooks, saves baseband and allows animated boots. make the custom fw, put ur device in pened dfu using redsn0w and restore to ios 4.2.1 made by SB. Ibooks fixed, BB saved, custom boot logos.
=)
