Updates, Jailbreaks and Unlock!

Okay.. i have a 3GS phone... it was locked to "3" network and in previous i used the official simcard and then jailbreak it with spirit and use ultrasnow as an unlock and it works like a charm!!

it runs 3.1.3 and BB 5.12.01 ...

So after reading the news about the pwnage.. i want to update my phone to the 4.2.1 by preserving my BB so i can use ultrasnow to unlock.. however im using windows so one of the members suggesting me using the sn0wbreeze ..

This is the first time im trying to update my phone.. currently im still using itunes 9 because the latest itunes will break Spirit jailbreak.. so my problem is... i need the latest itunes to update my phone so,

1) what will happen to my spirit jailbroken phone when i connect it to the latest itunes? what will happen to the phone? will there be any errors?

2) i backed up everything in my itunes(since its auto-backup)... what will happen to my games status, files in folders app, and my pictures in camera roll? the pictures/videos are not sync to my PC and also messages? please tell me if anything i should be backup before i lost everything precious...especially pics/videos/messages

3) i need a step-by-step on using sn0wbreeze as i never done anything like this before, from beginning to an unlock..do i still need the official sim?

please suggests me anything i should aware of so i dont miss anything and can run the updates peacefully, successfully without any regrets.. Thanks!

owh is it better to update to 4.2.1 or 4.1?

Well you can do it now with pwnage if you have a Mac. See the Dev Team blog page for download. I don't know when the windows (redsn0w) equivalent is coming out. Just watch these forums. The news is pretty up to date.

so i figured out that the windows version for pwnage tools are called "snowbreeze" ..

then i downloaded everything... when i choose the ipsw file... these are the options available... (screenshot)

so if i choose to create custom ipsw which only preserves the baseband.. does not jailbreak nor unlock.. is that fine? cause my idea is.. create a custom firmware that preserve the baseband... use official sim to activate and finally jailbreak using greenpoison and unlock using ultrasnow.. will this steps going to work? please help..
