Default upgrading iphone 4 (4.1) to 4.2.1 and iTunes

    sort of a noob, here...but,

My iPhone is currently on iOS 4.1 So, last year, I jailbroke it with Limera1n and I’m looking to upgrade the phone to 4.2.1 (or latest) using Greenpoison, Limera1n (or whatever). But, before I even get started with any of this, my big question is this.

I have iTunes (10.1.2), and I haven't upgraded my phone in so long that it only asks me to upgrade to 4.2

So, If I do this... will it then turn around and give me another chance to upgrade to 4.2.1? I would hate to bring my phone up to 4.2 and then get stuck there and not be able to jailbreak at all! (lol) Or...maybe, is there a way to have iTunes SKIP asking me about 4.2 and jump straight to 4.2.1?

(told ya I was a noob) But what's my best option?

Thanks very much for your help.

Just download the firmware file, which is an ipsw file that's roughly 600mb in size, then when you put your phone in restore mode, and go into itunes, hold shift then click restore, then navigate to the ipsw firmware file you just downloaded, and bam. done.

Thanks for the info. But, iTunes still asks me to upgrade to 4.2 (not 4.2.1) So, when I do all of what you suggested, will I still be able to upgrade to the higher, 4.2.1?

Apple is marketing ios 4.2.1 AS 4.2.

When you restore you'll be on ios 4.2.1, apple is just saying 4.2 because they had to release another version (.1) to fix some bugs.

All in all, 4.2 is secretly 4.2.1.
