    Default peculiar iPhone 3GS problem

    Hi guys,

I'm facing a problem with my 16GB 3GS, it is currently stuck in restore. When I tried to do a restore with itunes to 4.2.1 it came up with 1002 error (It currently is running 4.2.1 as far as I know)

I've tried jailbreaking using redsn0w, it stays on the itunes recovery screen. Any way I can stop it from going back to the itunes restore screen everytime?!

    Thanks all!

I'm on a prepaid simcard, not tied to any official carrier. So I rely on an unlock. The phone is stuck at the itunes restore logo screen

I bought the iphone off a friend who sold it to me because it was stuck in the recovery screen. All I know is that it's on 4.2.1 I have no idea if it's got ipad BB or not. I cant get further than the restore screen.

Well I think you have the iPad baseband. What you need to do is restore the phone using a custom firmware which you can get from doing a simple google search and then putting the phone into a custom dfu mode and then restoring.

Yeah 1002, and it just goes back to the restore screen. After trying to jailbreak it with redsn0w it goes back to the restore screen again.

Update: I seem to have gotten it out of the 1002 error with a custom IPSW, but now its stuck on the emergency call screen. Where do I proceed from here?

You will need to hacktivate with redsn0w or use the official sim card to activate.

Just download redsn0w 0.9.6 rc 8. Just search google download the .ipsw from here and then just jailbreak.

Is the ipsw a custom one or the original 3GS firmware?
