HELP how to find out which carrier an iPhone is?
I have an iPhone which is locked with a service provider, but I do not know which one it is. Is there any way to find out?

You can probably call apple and ask them to look up the IMEI to tell you.

Go to apples website. Then go to the section under store where you can check to see if you have a warranty. Type it in and then it will tell you what kind of iPhone it is and what carriers it can be used for.

It's an iPhone4 and I typed the serial number in and didn't give me much call the apple support and then they said they have no way in telling which carrier the iPhone is locked with. I guess I will just have to wait for a greater jailbreak software???? So sad

The jailbreak isn't determined by the carrier.

Is it extremely vital to know what carrier? Are you looking to jb/unlock or are you wanting to use the official carrier

Looks Like your gonna need to jailbreak it and unlock it.So what happened is that it worked and then you plugged it into iTunes and restored/updated it??
Now it doesn't work?
edit:noticed it was an iPhone 4*
I don't think theres an unlock for the iPhone 4 yet (with 4.2.1 fw and the 3.10.01 Baseband) I assume you now have....
Maybe a custom Firmware?? I don't think you can downgrade the baseband on these yet either? Maybe someone can chime in??Last edited by Mr Squints; 02-15-2011 at 08:18 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

it would get the phone "Activated" but when you put your sim card back in you wouldn't be able to use the phone without an unlock.....
Rumor has it that the unlock for 4.2.1 firmware will be released when 4.3 is out..by the end of the month.....
Then all you'd do is turn the phone off, put it into DFU and jailbreak/hacktivate it...then unlock it...Give a thanks if I was helpful!!
