Question about Upgrading Jailbreak to 4.2.1

So right now i am on 4.1 and i have tons of apps from both the app store and cydia and a number of themes on winterboard. Usually when ive jailbroken my phone in the past all my apps and whatnot have been deleted and i had to start over with downloading them. Is there a way to transfer the jailbroken apps from 4.1 to 4.2.1?

they might not all run, there is always compatibility issues when changing firmwares...

its better to go through and check by installing again
if you are on an older model of iphone (3g, 3gs) youd be better off on 3.1.2

Its the iphone 4
Should i just update with itunes and run greenpois0n?
I always get worried about my apps every update -_-
