iPhone 4, 4.2.1, jailbroken with GP. A strange little annoyance that I can't figure out.
Every time I upgrade or install an app from Cydia or App Store, it resprings to safe mode. With another respring, its back out of safe mode and fine again. I'm thinking it might be related to Masks, FolderEnhancer, or one of the other springboard tweaks I have installed.
And maybe related, when using iPod app, and screen is locked, usually a double tap of home button will bring up ipod controls. This also causes a respring to safe mode. Again, after another respring it's back to normal again.
I can go through and delete each extension/tweak I have installed to see which one is causing the issue. But figured someone else out there might have a solution. It'll take me hours to manually remove/reinstall each tweak I have.
Haha nah, not yet. That would even be a bigger pain than doing the manual way of simply removing apps until I find the culprit. That would be a last resort.
got something to do with an app or tweak that you installed. try uninstalling some app or tweak in reverse from the recent to the first apps or tweak you have downloaded and see if that works coz it work for me then you know which one is not compatible with your idevice.
some of the apps i know are still not compatible with 4.2.1 because developer still didnt update the app for 4.2.1 probably waiting for the 4.3 release. incompatible app will cause the springboard to crash. Try uninstalling the apps you downloaded or do full restore and re-jailbreak whatever is easier for you.
This happened to me after I installed a textfree app on my 3GS. I'm not totally sure what causes it but from what I've read, mostly caused from installing apps.
