Ive had my iphone4 since launch day and never have jailbroken it. I want to jump into the jailbraking world soon but don't think I know enough. Do I need to restore my phone like it was out of the box before I jailbrake.? I'm on ios4.2.1 and been watching videos on how to JB. looks easy but seems like every phone or device being jailbroken is out the box. Can I just plug in and do the same or do I need to restore ?

you only need to restore if something goes terribly wrong\ a new FW comes out.

greenp0sion will jailbreak ios 4.2.1, just run it and follow the directions. then install cydia from the loader app, enjoy.

Just did it and everything seems to work fine. Anything I should do before changing themes. Like I said this is my first time jailbreaking and first time using cydia

download tinyumbrella and save your SHSH. in cydia also click 'make my life easier'.

Cant find either of those. It also says under the home cydia title that a have a pending TSS request ?

And is this what allows me to restore back to regular iOS and lose my jailbreak.

you can restore back to regular fw at anytime. this just allows you to downgrade with ios 5, ios 6 come out etc etc.

Ok. Also it doesn't allow me to click save shsh. Instead it only allows to click start TSS server? Do I click it?

Device is plugged in but nothing shows up on the bar where it says show all shshs. Is that where u r talkin about?

no that is only for upgrading with an iphone 4.

plug in device, select it on the left and click save shsh

Ok I'm plugged in but device don't show up and I am on an iphone4.

Yea battery is at 67%.

could try it on another computer. cydia has you decently cover as of now though, so dont sweat it too much (but still idk why it would show up).
