That was the deal! I had to edit the hosts file.

On the PC the fix should note that you have to change the filename. When I saved the file in notepad it changed the filename to hosts to hosts.txt

I had to change the name back to hosts and iTunes restored without any issue. Then I was able to jailbreak with greenp0ison without incident.

Now all I need to do is fix the microsim issue then I can actually use the phone
