Default It just wont restore. My god...

iPhone 4 4.1 unhashed try to go to 4.2.1.

Using tinyumbrella to preserver baseband, but after each restore\dfu restore i either get error 1xxx or error 37.

When i run GP for 4.2.1 after error 1xxx it just goes back to the stupid connect to itunes screen and doesn't kick it out of recovery.

When I run the jailbreak on error 37 it just go back to a white screen, thats all.

I have the iphone firmware 4.2.1 downloaded.

I have the latest version of itunes.

    I have SHSH for everything above\at 4.2.1.

I dont NEED my baseband saved, but it would be nice (resell value in 2 years).

    I am running W7 64 bit.

Any ideas? I have been at this for 6 hours now.

I have now decided that i actully want to use my iphone again and thus will do a default upgrade. gah i guess i still can wait for an unlock in the 5.0.

You're probably having an issue when itunes tries to verify the restore with Apple's SHSH servers. By default, when you use TinyUmbrella, upon exit, it changes iTunes's hosts file. This is for downgrading purposes.

    Here's what I'd do:
-Open up TinyUmbrella, and go to the advanced tab
-UNcheck "Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit"
-just to be safe reboot computer to make sure changes have taken effect
-Update as you would normally in iTunes (you shouldn't get error this time)
    -Use GreenPois0n to jailbreak

The only time you want the hosts set to Cydia is if you are downgrading. If your hosts point to Cydia, iTunes will never successfully upgrade or restore to a current firmware version. And unfortunately you will have to upgrade baseband with this method.
