What JB software do I use for iPhone 2G?

tiny umbrella is useless to you. Just use redsn0w 0.9.4. works great for me for jbing ios 3.1.3.

Ok so I used redsnow & it finished but the screen is just lit up black.. Does it take awhile to finish doin it's stuff??

I kicked it out of recovery in TB. It has the connect to itunes logo on. When I connect it it wants to set it up as a new iphone. Is there a way to get around that?

If the screen lit ip black you may need to try to restore to 3.1.3 again and rerun the redsn0w jailbreak. I have had this happen A couple of times.
I just restore and rerun.

jailbreak it now and download the bl39.bin and bl46.bin when it asks for unlock or whatever (google them, you should be able to find them)

I tried using a 3.1.3 in redsnow but it doesn't recognize it. But it will recognize a 3.1.2 It's the other way around in itunes

Yeah redsn0w uses the ios 3.1.2 to jb ios 3.1.3. if you need tho bin files i have them, thats how you get past the activation screen

Either be sure the redsn0w is version 0.9.4 or be sure your device is actually the 2g model. If it is a 2g and you're using 0.9.4, the unlock option should be in redsn0w.

yeah you know its a 2G when it has a metal gray back, black bottom and crappy camera

Honestly the only two things I can think of is it's not a 2G OR you're not using the right firmware version. Can you post the exact name of the firmware you are browsing to in Redsn0w?
