3.1.3 jb >?????

I have a couple of 3G @ 3.1.3 05.11.07BB and would like to go to the highest firmware posible to JB and unluck. In your guys opinion what or where is the best place to start (what firware for old guy like me would be the safest and most reliable)?

This stuff changes SO fast it is hard for my couple of brain cells to keep up!

For iPhone 3G the best running firmware is 3.1.3 and you can use jailbreakme.com to jailbreak.

The latest firmware is 4.2.1 and you would use redsnow 0.9.6rc8 to jailbreak. But it will run slower on this firmware.

Can 4.2.1 be unlocked?

Just got my Verizon Iphone a couple days ago and thought I would update the 3G's and apps so all my apps would be compatible between phones...good or bad idea? Thanks.

It can if you use a custom firmware made with pwnage tool so that you preserve your baseband.
