Iphone JB help - Many thanks in advance

Hello all,

I am new to this community and i am happy to be appart of it.

I have an iphone 3gs
Version 3.1.2
modem 05.11.07

it is currently jail broken with blackra1n and unlocked via ultrasn0w.

I am quite tired of having to tether jail break it everytime it runs out of batteries, and i have even gotten to the point of buying those iphone chargers.

I had decided to try and find a solution for months but whenever i search online and this forum, i see alot of methods to jailbreak but i am confused at which one is best for me.

In a perfect world i would like to:
1.Maintain or have latest iOS (i want to play cool apps which req 4.0+)
2. untethering jail break (probably most important to me)
3. unlock my phone (and if possible retain my base band)

Other questions i would like to know would be:
1. would i require fresh restore to do any jb (in tiny unbrella it has only saved 3.1.3)
2. is there any faster and (free) way to backup my downloaded video and music on my iphone to my destok (for some weird reason downloaded videos on my iphone wont be backup on my itunes) - i have tried SSH using winSCP but that took quite a long time.

sn0wbreeze can get you to 4.1 without changing baseband but it requires putting the phone into dfu mode and restoring with a custom firmware.

Heres a guide for sn0wbreeze.

It will also jailbreak and it will be untethered. Not sure about backing up downloaded video though.

Sorry just noticed this but you'll need iTunes 10 to go to 4.1 with sn0wbreeze.
