upgrading?

ok so I have the iPhone 4 and have it jailbroken with 4.1 firmware and want to upgrade to a new firmware I know this is a dumb question but I can't find an answer on the forums. I don't exactly want to upgrade to 4.2 but I do want to know how for future upgrades.

yes I use AT&T

All you would do is update like normal then use whatever jailbreak is available to re-jailbreak. In this case 4.2.1 and greenpoison.

and all my stuff will be there?

All your itunes stuff stays. Any jailbreak related stuff will need to be reinstalled.
