Keeps going into Safe Mode
I just updated to 4.2.1 and I restored my Cydia stuff with AptBackup and everything was fine. I then checked PkgBackup and saw that AptBackup had not restored 10 of my 95 packages. I then proceeded to restore the remaining 10 packages and now it constantly keeps going into Safe Mode. Also, none of those 10 packages were restored. Am I stuck with having to restore my iPhone, or is there a way I can fix this? Thnx in advance.

I had the same problem and figured out the culprit was qTweeter. I had to restore back to non-JB 4.2.1 and then run greenpois0n again. I had to do this 3 times before figuring out qTweeter was the problem.

ok so it looks like it was not qtweeter. If anybody knows how I can find the culprit rather than uninstalling every single extension, please let me know. I've been using Crash Reporter but it's been no help.

I've read that its a corruption with aptbackup file. Might want to start from scratch and see if that works.

Some package/s is not compatible with 4.2.1 which is probably causing the safe mode issue.
Installing one package/tweak at a time will allow you to find the one that is causing the issue. Big pain, I know.

I was unable to restore from AptBackup this time, so I used only PkgBackup. I'll uninstall AptBackup n see what happens.

No need to completely uninstall packages. Just go into SBSettings --> More --> Mobile Substrate Addons and start turning items off and retesting. Still a pain, but less painful than uninstalling/reinstalling.
IMPORTANT NOTE: once you do find the culprit, you have to go back into SBSettings and turn it back on BEFORE you uninstall via Cydia. Failing to do so can leave remnants of the package that may cause issues to persist.

I had the same issue, (safe mode) when I updated to 4.2.1, just did one by one and figured it out. Good luck.

But I'm in Safe Mode, so how am I supposed to enter SBSettings?

So AptBackup is not the cause, just as I had thought, since it is an app n not an extension.

or use crash reporter from cydia like I've done in the past when I've had to restore and reinstall apps and get safe mode
