Hi, so I've been having this error for some time now.
I have a iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.2.1
I first jail broke it with redsnow 0.9.6b4 for a tethered jailbreak.
I just used GP RC5_b to make it untethered. I'm still getting the same problem.
When I sync with iTunes I'm getting the unknown device error 0x800065 - itunes doesn't recognize the device...
It seems if I reboot the phone it then works... is there any other way to fix this?
A new problem has come up since I've used GP to untether it. When I do get it to sync I get the error 0x80002D which refers to not being able to install the apps that are in iTunes... all of which are already installed on the phone, so I'm not quite sure it's trying to install them again.
No, restore again to 4.2.1 , do not setup up your iphone yet but leave your official sim to activate, you can run redsn0w to get tethered jailbreak. Update cydia and you may need to boot tether a couple of times if you needed a reboot.(New bootrom)
Then finally run GreenPoison on top of redsn0w jailbreak to get untethered jailbreak. (If only you have a tethered jailbreak with redsn0w)
Just restore through itunes and yes you will lose your tweaks . Make sure you don't do a backup restore, I suspect you have corrupted files . If you do a backup restore , then the issue will come back.
But before you do any restore, sync and backup your contacts , photos , notes , with itunes.
When you have setup as new iphone, you can check the box for contacts ,etc again.
You will need to setup your email accounts again.
