    Default A few questions

Hello, i havent been on here for quite some time. I used to be really in to this stuff but ever since i had my 3GS replaced under warrenty i have not been jailbroken.

Well anyways i now have an iphone 4 that i need to jailbreak and unlock. It is on fw 4.0.1 and baseband 1.59.00. I am confused as to where to get the SHSH files needed for apple to sign the firmware in the guide below:

ON 4.0.x + BASEBAND 1.59.00 + GOING UP TO 4.1 (WITH SHSHs ONLY) + MAINTAINING BASEBAND TO UNLOCK

[This is also applicable to those who are on 4.1 and need to restore to 4.1 again, remember, SHSHs are required]

    You'll need:
    Updated iTunes
    Stock 4.1 ipsw
    Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8
    TinyUmbrella

    Steps:
    1) Run TSS server in TinyUmbrella.
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) Set phone into DFU or recovery mode.
    4) Shift (option on Mac) + restore to stock 4.1.
    5) Restore should succeed, error 1004 will occur so exit recovery with TinyUmbrella now. If you have an official SIM to activate with, this is the time to do it now before jailbreaking.
    6) Open Redsn0w and browse to stock 4.1.
    7) Select Cydia and continue to follow on-screen prompts for DFU and jb proceeds.
    8) You can now access Cydia so open it and let it reorganize.
    9) Open it again and update essentials or complete, at least get the essentials done.
    10) After reboot or respring, go back to Cydia to install Ultrasn0w.

I understand everything but if someone could help me out that would be great.

    Thanks

The easiest way for you to jailbreak and unlock right now...

Click me on your iPhone 4 running iOS 4.0.1 to jailbreak!

That'll install Cydia for you, which will bring up both ultrasn0w (for cell unlock) and a little prompt about making your life easier. Choose "Make my life easier, thanks!" ASAP.

You will only be able to obtain 4.2.1 SHSH blobs and later at this time, but since your baseband is already unlockable, and the iPhone 4 can avoid upgrading its baseband permanently, you'll be set for life as long as you don't restore without using the TSS Server in TinyUmbrella described above (and custom firmware).

    Thanks

    edit:

damn. after cydia did its first essential update i got stuck in the boot cycle.

i saves the SHSH's in tiny umbrella when it was working fine on 4.0.1 and now im trying to restore in itunes and i get error 1601

I clicked save all SHSHs last night when the phone was on 4.0.1 and now this is what shows up in the saved list

    iPhone4 4.2.1 (8C148)-4028914654670
    iPhone4 4.3b2 (8F5153d)-4028914654670
    iPhone4 4.3b3 (8F5166b)-4028914654670

so basically i need to either get out of the boot cycle or find out how to restore to 4.0.1 or another fw where i can unlock.

i also have a 3GS on 4.0 that i just jailbroke with the jailbreak me link and it worked perfectly, could i get the SHSH files from it to use on the iphone 4?

Try manually resetting your iPhone (holding down both buttons until the Apple logo disappears and reappears, let go when the logo reappears). Hopefully that will get you out of the boot loop. If that doesn't do it, you could always let the battery drain fully (will take a while) or (STRONGLY DISCOURAGED) physically remove the battery from your phone's internals; and then try to charge/boot again.

If neither is working, then you can always restore to iOS 4.2.1 and preserve your baseband (necessary for cell unlock and strongly recommended) by following these instructions TO THE LETTER. I would avoid the restore as long as possible.

the re set isnt working, but its stuck with the screen on full brightness on the boot cycle so im hoping the battery will drain over night.

once its dead do i just plug it in and see if it boots?

Yep (I'd plug it into the computer myself, but it shouldn't matter too much). If that doesn't do it, a restore will likely be the only option.

ok, it died overnight and i plugged it into the computer and its still in the loop.

do i need to wait until its completely dead where the red battery low symbol doesnt even pop up?

    edit:

I think im going to have to restore

in tiny umbrella it says that these are the saved SHSH files

    iPhone4 4.2.1 (8C148)-4028914654670
    iPhone4 4.3b2 (8F5153d)-4028914654670
    iPhone4 4.3b3 (8F5166b)-4028914654670

so to confirm i do have the correct file to restore to 4.2.1 and preserve the base band?

    thanks

    anyone know?

ok so i restored to fw 4.2.1 and preserved the baseband, all went good and ultrasn0w is installed.

I have a stupid question though, will the phone be unlocked as soon as ultrasn0w is installed in cydia? I have no sim to test if its working or not.

    thanks

It will be unlocked once ultrasn0w is installed.
