Thanks iYeow but I have already unlocked my 3.1.3 version 2g phone. My question is can I get higher software version and unlock it?

You can't , you can give this iphone to your son and get a 3gs or iphone 4.

Thanks I have iPhone 4 myself but this phone's slide to unlock bar is stuck not working. I thought if I update it to a newer software it would work.
