Internet broken after updating to 4.2.1

Hey Guys,

I've spent around 10 hours, figuring out how to update my iphone 4 to the latest iOS 4.2.1, after trying a lot of different ways and jailbreaks etc., I finally was successfully - however, one problem is left.

Right now I got:
- iPhone 4 (locked to Orange France), but activated now.
- iOS 4.2.1 (8C148) while preserving a baseband of 01.59.00
- Ultrasn0w 1.2
- Redsn0w 0.9.6rc8
- Latest version of SAM to activate my iDevice

I can initiate and receive calls and SMS, the internet data connection however does not allow me to get any traffic through. I have a data plan (which worked pretty well before I updated), I can see the 3G icon as well as the spinning wheel indicator as soon as I start i.e. Safari or the AppStore - but not a single byte is coming through.

My iPhone behaves like there is some kind of firewall, stopping it from letting any connections through. Safara just gives me a timeout message and similar application do the same after a while.

It's like i have a data connection, but no data is coming through.

I hope somebody can help me with this matter, because it's driving me crazy.

On an additional note: WiFi is not working either.

So, no Internet access at all.

Im having the same problem. I'm using Tmobile but have all the same symptoms. Did you ever find a fix?

I cannot tell you what exactly I did but after a few restores and a lot of patience I got it working again (sometimes it still takes like 10 min till h have Internet after my package runs out)

If Wifi isn't working either. Then it might a hardware problem. So I would take it to apple if you prove that its a hardware problem.

I found a solution: Go to Cydia and buy/install TetherMe ($1.99) and the TetherMe APN editor . Open your network options and "Cellelar Data Network" will show. Be sure to reboot the phone.
