looping iphone 3g even during restore
i plugged my jailbroken 16gb iphone 3g in today to sync some new music on it (since i use it sim card-less as a mp3 player) and it started boot looping, i've tried different methods of restoring and nothing works. restore mode with new and old firmware (with/without tiny umbrella as well) DFU mode with new and old firmware (with/without tiny umbrella) and it always does the same thing, gets to "waiting for iphone" it reboots and i end up with an error 9. i've also gotten errors 1601, 1611, 21, and i believe that's it. any help would definitely be appreciated...

For 3.1.3, itunes 8.2 is good enough. Put your iphone into recovery mode and shift + restore to 3.1.3 ipsw.
You don't need shsh blob , make sure your hosts file is pointing towards Apple server.Last edited by iYeow; 02-03-2011 at 02:25 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

would that stop the rebooting of the phone that interrupts the restore process?

Not sure what you are saying but this is the very first step you need to do , is a clean restore of firmware.

when the bar to show the state of the restore shows up on the iphone, it reboots and i end up with an error 9 code consistently and then the phone goes back into recovery mode, even with itunes 8.2

So there wasn't a problem before you start syncing your iphone.

It might be a hardware failure, a coincidence when you try and sync and the hardware begins to fail.
Hopefully, someone can shed some lights on this issue.
