Iphone 4 4.0.2 stuck in apple logo loop
I just bought the iphone 4 4.0.2 from someone and I tried to clear all the data on the phone. But before that I ran Limera1n to jailbreak it and ultrasn0w to unlock it. Everything was fine until I went into Settings, General and reset All data and Content (i wanted to remove all contacts, photos, Lifetime calls) and that's where my problems is at. It is suck in the apple logo recovery mode forever.
I've tried to read through all the forums and follow the instruction but it's not working.
Anyone have a solution to this recovery problems?
BTW. I would like to keep the 4.0.2 for unlocking purposes. I do not want to upgrade to the new OS 4.2
Thanks in Advance,

Probably shouldn't have done that after jailbreaking... that's exactly what should happen if you clear settings on a jailbroken iphone.
You need to restore your device. You should find out if the previous owner saved SHSHs for it, otherwise you'll be forced up to 4.2.1 and you cannot unlock it then. You cannot avoid going to 4.2.1 if you don't have any SHSHs saved for that device.

I had someone try to fix it. They kept my firmware at 1.59.00 and update to os 4.2.1. I was told that it can be unlock but tethered. It should work with any sim but now when I try to install ultrasn0w cydia does not work. Whenever I click on cydia it doesn't do anything. So the guy told me I have to wait until 4.3 to come out to unlock it.
Any truth to this?

Did you actually check your baseband if it says 1.59.00?
And I think you meant the jailbreak is tethered, which it should be on 4.2.1.
He also might have screwed it up. It's very complicated to go to 4.2.1 and preserve the baseband on an iPhone 4 and this I believe is the result. You have Cydia but it doesn't work because he probably used a custom firmware to do it. Therefore it's not surprising that Cydia is broken because he didn't take the extra steps to include necessary bundles to make sure it works right.
It's a lengthy and complicated set of steps to go through so I think it's best you just sit back and wait for 4.3. You can most likely expect a new unlock when jb for 4.3 is released.

Yeah haha. But its a bit complicated. I'm enrolled in a Radiology Tech program in my school but the waiting list takes 3-4 years. This is my 4th year waiting. As a result I'm taking medical coding/billing which I will finish by this summer. I will have a better job to make more money so that while I wait for my program to accept me, I can be more stable to pay my bills

Ah good for him! He's lucky. I have been waiting like forever. 4 years of my life but hopefully it'll come through this year. I'm banking on it because I plan on getting my bachelors and masters and that's 4 more years on top of the 2 I still have yet to begin. So 6 years when I get accepted
I'll be like 29 when I'm done lol.

Yep you got it exactly right. I'm pretty much near the top of the list, but even that isn't enough for me to bank on. I'm just hoping. I think the list extended from 1000 people to 2000+ because of the recent economy. People are so desperate to get a degree just to work in the medical field that the demand for entries to medical programs are insanely high.

yeah but I'm kinda hating all the people who get in on it just bc they want money. I'm in it for my future and bc I know health care is what I'm good at. I've been since 2007 and the economy wasn't that bad then.

Glad to hear about your future career Annie. You definitely picked the right feel for the future. Best of luck.

As for the iPhone it is 1.59.00 and os 4.2.1. The guy that is helping me just called n said he has the solution to the unlock and will get it to me. It's a custom program he created and I have to pay him for this service ($35) bc I didn't want to wait. This service is for recovery, jailbreak, unlock but tethered.
