4.2.1 Vanilla, what are my options?
Hey guys! Just found this forum and all my iPhones so far have only ever been vanilla, so I'm a total noob safe for the few hours of research I just did before registering on here...
My questions:
1. My modem firmware / baseband seems to be: 03.10.01 Is that normal with my Version 4.2.1??? Shouldn't it be higher? (German domestic market, should be the same all over though?)
2. Does that offer me any possibilities to a) get an untethered jailbreak right now OR b) make it possible for me to downgrade my version (without having one of those "blobs") in order to get untethered jailbreak on a lower version?
Thanks so much! Sorry if some of my questions may be stupid, remember the first time I ever looked into jailbreaking was like 2 hours ago...
BONUS question:
3. Keeping my strange base band in mind: Is there a decent tethered unlock for 4.2.1? If so: Will that impede my ability to a) upgrade to 4.3 once it's released or b) get the untethered jailbreak for EITHER 4.2.1 or 4.3 (once released)?Last edited by mcbrite; 01-30-2011 at 02:42 PM.

3.10 is the right bb for 4.2.1 right if you have the right blobs saved you can tether jailbreak

ah, ok... Well, I don't have any blobs/SHSH saved at all... Like I said, this is the very first time I came in contact with jailbraking and/or info about jailbreaking...
Anything you could kindly suggest needs to be workable on a plain-vanilla iphone 4 with 4.2.1 and the mentioned baseband/modem firmware...
