GPS DEAD. Thank you DEV-TEAM 3GS old bootrom upgraded to 4.2.1 (bb 06.15.00 redsn0W ul
I’m upset against the Dev-Team (the “dev-team blog” admin censored this message. I simply remind the truth to people).
I have 2 iPhones 3GS old boot rom (baseband 5.15) that I upgraded to 4.2.1, jailbreaked & desimlocked using redsn0W & ultrsn0w (Now baseband 06.15.00).
Yes, there was a warning concerning baseband 06.15.00, when 4.2.1 was released with redsn0W & ultrsn0w.
This warning simply stated that you wouldn’t be able to downgrade your baseband anymore after the upgrade, and that you would loose the warranty, NOTHING ELSE.
So I trusted them, like many people, I upgraded my 3GS baseband to 06.15.00 to get 4.2.1.
Result after the upgrade :
1) my GPS are screwed-up
2) my batteries drain twice faster than before
3) the push function doesn’t work correctly any longer
Questions :
1) why didn’t they tell people about theses consequences before? they posted a GPS warning ONLY 3 WEEKS AFTER RELEASING THEIR CR*PPY JAILBREAK/DESIMLOCK
2) Why didn’t they test a minimum before releasing an alpha version (not even a beta !) of jailbreak & desimlock?
SAM doesn’t fix the GPS, neither the push function. However it fixed the battery drain issue.
I’m just p*ssed off by these amateurs from the dev-team :
Downgrade 06.15.00 BB To Fix GPS Issue Coming After i4 Unlock
Geohot wouldn’t have realeased an alpha version of redsn0w + ultrasn0w…

You shouldn't have bought a phone that you have to unlock via a jailbreak. Buy a factory unlock. The dev team works hard to provide us with freedom to our phones and they had warnings all over this release. Jailbreaking has always come with some risks, but the devs have pretty much made it painless. For free.

If you have an official sim card to activate it those problems that you are having wouldn't be there. Oh and did we not forget limera1n.

You are wrong. The official SIM I have only solved the battery drain problem (SAM)

Not to make light of your issues but you knew or should have know that that method was very risky and there are always bugs and unforeseen things that happen jailbreaking. You gambled and took the risk and it didn't work out. Unfortunate, but that's the way it goes.` Just like investing, if you make a high risk investment and it doesn't work out, who's fault is it?
However the word is that they are working on a way to restore your baseband so hang tight

Your iPhone GPS works fine, so my iPhone GPS should also work fine right? Then how do you explain that the Dev-Team posted this message on their blog 3 weeks after their cr*appy release :
"Unlockers have been reporting mixed results about GPS functionality at 06.15.00. Until we can track down what differentiates those who retain GPS vs. those who lose it, be conservative and assume you’ll lose GPS at 06.15.00. As we work on finding the cause (and possibly a fix), please report your personal findings in our comments section. (Update: early indications are that while 06.15.00 is capable of GPS, it will require some further hacks. But please still be conservative and assume you will lose GPS at 06.15, in case the hacks don’t work)."
Where did you get this information?Last edited by vindiou; 02-06-2011 at 03:14 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Not all iphones with ipad BB will have GPS problems. Have you tried reflashing Ipad BB again ?

AFAIK all iPhones updated to the 6.15 baseband have messed up gps. Anyone still getting good readings just means the phone is using cell and wifi triangulation instead of actual gps.

02-06-2011, 05:24 PM #121. ALL JAILBREAKS COME WITH CONSEQUENCE (you should know all probrams have bugs there is no perfect program otherwise u wont ever see an update for it)Questions :
1) why didn’t they tell people about theses consequences before? they posted a GPS warning ONLY 3 WEEKS AFTER RELEASING THEIR CR*PPY JAILBREAK/DESIMLOCK
2) Why didn’t they test a minimum before releasing an alpha version (not even a beta !) of jailbreak & desimlock?
2. YOU ARE THE TESTER (theres just to much **** for devs to do as is, so ur the tester u report any problems u have give references (error codes, ect...) and they look for the bug, make a fix, update)
and dont talk all that **** about hating the devs unless u plan on never using there programs again

Don't flame this poor guy; I would also be mad if I were in his position!
I hope the Devs make a fix for this... until then you'll have to deal with it! Also, next time you should assume the risks that you are taking! If I helped you in any way, please click on the

I wouldn't have upgraded my baseband to 6.15 (to get 4.2.1) if I had been told before upgrading that my iPhones GPS would be screwed up!
I told you, the Dev-Team warned people only 3 weeks later!

I have a 3GS with old bootrom, and I didn't need to upgrade my baseband to get jailbreaked 4.2.1
My baseband was and still is 5.13.04

There will always be bugs in new stuff. Don't go off at the people that are working on this for free to help us out and be able to use our phone how we want. For the people who don't want to use the offical sim cards and carriers for their iPhone and screw with the baseband then have things go wrong can't go off their nut, don't use their f**king software then say is s**t all over the fourms. Grow up.

People need to be reminded when such damned stupid mistakes are made, especially when it comes from the Dev-Team

Why should reflashing the exact same BB change something ?? Most old bootrom 3GS have their GPS screwed up after upgrading their BB to 6.15.00 to get 4.2.1 firmware
