I don't like to be censored just because I remind the truth to people.
This is what happened on Dev-team's blog.

My apologies for that last post, i understand what your trying to say but its like they said only certain devices have gps issues so the devices that the dev-team tested it on may not have had gps issues so they may not of know

If its any consolation I also have the exact same problem as you.
I went to 4.2.1 and upgraded the BB at the same time. I felt forced to upgrade as a lot of my apps were needing updates but couldn't until i went to iOS 4.XXX
I do hope they release a fix soon but i must admit that its been a while. I also notice that there are now company's that repair phones offering to change the chip to rectify the issue. It does look to me like this may be the only way to get our GPS back properly. Who knows..........

Here is some news. Anyone complaining at all is ignorant. Nothing is guaranteed when you jailbreak and it's written and we are warned about that. Some people are getting spoiled and now expect flawless jailbreaks. Nothing is flawless. If you are going to be mad and pout then why don't you not use their software and go and develop some flawless jailbreak software yourself.

The GPS issue wasn't detected till later. Unfortunately you jumped the gun and got too excited to try it out. I never use any jb or unlock tool until I see it is safe enough. And it wasn't 3 weeks for them to report the issue, that's just exaggerating now.
So now you're mad bc they released this "crap" right? Ok you're right, maybe they shouldn't have released it at all. They shouldn't have released ANYTHING at all bc this was crap. Well, 1) like someone else said, buy a factory unlocked phone to avoid this problem 2) buy someone else's phone that has a lower unlockable baseband 3) don't "accidentally" upgrade your phone.
There's a fine line between not liking to be censored and just being ignorant. Meaning there is a difference between saying "I wish the dev team would have released something more reliable and doesn't break GPS" and "the devs released a piece of crap." Bc seriously lol, that piece of crap they released is a hell of a lot better than what you can provide for the community, which is probably nothing.

My 3 rules of iOS jailbreaking/unlocks are:
1. Follow the Dev-Team Blog page.
2. Follow the following people on Twitter for info on iOS jailbreaking and unlocks.
@MuscleNerd, @iphone_dev, @comex, @saurik, @sherif_hashim,
@p0sixninja, @pod2g, @chpwn, @notcom
3. Closely follow modmyi.com, my favorite site for breaking news, problems, and solutions for iDevices.
and
4. Don't be the first to jump into a new jailbreak, wait and see what the results are for the masses. Ok. well, that's four.
While I do agree that the Redsn0w 0.9.6 betas were not the Dev-Team's best work, I appreciate their work very much. So far, the Dev-Team has always come up with solutions to problems in their jailbreaks. And, most important, they have been doings this for many years without asking for donations.
I know the Dev-Team is working on 2 solutions to this problem: 1) MuscleNerd has tweeted that they are working on a way to downgrade the 06.15 baseband and 2) they will be releasing a new unlock for iOS 4.3 as soon as Apple releases iOS 4.3. I believe iOS 4.3 is in its 3rd beta and rumored to be released to the public by the end of this month or close after.Last edited by reddawg; 02-24-2011 at 10:25 PM.

You make valid points

Although, downgrading the baseband is probably more likely the solution for 3G/3GS users. I do believe the unlock being worked on is for the iPhone 4 since there hasn't been one in a long time for it. Even if though, if the unlock is for all devices on 4.3, it would be pointless bc the bb is likely not going to be higher than 6.15.00 so those on that baseband would still be stuck there. So they will either have to fix the gps issue or they have to figure out how to downgrade the bb like you said.

Well that's good, an external GPS is a good solution if GPS is absolutely necessary. Nice find!
Although, it isn't fixing the GPS on your device, it is a good workaround.

Any news about fixing the GPS of the iPhone?
-
03-18-2011, 05:03 AM #35
So lets get this right.
To get my GPS working i need to buy an external GPS unit lol.
At a cost of around £60!!
Now that is rediculous. Like having to buy another Hifi to play through my Hifi because a software upgrade killed the first Hifi.
It would be nice to get a solution to this issue as it has been going for some time now. I am back to printing out maps for my journeys at present
Hope its not Geohot working on this as i think he has enough to contend with from SONY.
Regards
Kev
