Bricked iPhone not responding at all?
I bought an iphone and it was working fine. But when my friend tried to do something with it the battery went dead and now it boot up. it constantly flashes the apple logo when plugged into the computer, dfu mode doesn't work and niether does recovery. it will just sit and flash the apple logo. anyway to fix this issue?
It only comes on when i plug it in the computer, then it just turns on and off real fast flashing the apple logo

If you are comfortable opening it up try removing the battery for an hour then put it back in.

Basically it can reset the phone. If you have never opened one up before then I would suggest just letting the battery completely drain and leaving it for a few days. This should have the same effect.

Even if the battery does drain I don't think it'll help it since its most likely a software issue. its stuck in a constant boot cycle. it displays the apple logo for like 2 seconds then turns off and repeats :/
it's an iPhone 2g 8 gigs on 3.0 firmware
computer won't reconize it either

Removing the battery or letting it drain can actually help a software issue. If it is a issue with NOR then that can be reset by doing this. Granted I have only seen this help with newer iPhones but it is worth a shot isn't it. What other choice do you have?

How can i drain the battery? The only way i can get it to turn on is if i plug it into a computer or outlet. It won't turn on unless its plugged in to a power source.
Also i don't know if this makes a difference or not, but my friend said that right before it died a message kept popping up about it not having a sim card and he couldn't make the message go away.Last edited by The Amazing Atheist; 01-28-2011 at 09:27 AM.

Sounds like it may be a hardware issue then. Do you have any idea what your friend was doing to it?

He said he was trying to make it to where I can use the phone and not be billed for it. I don't know the whole story but it was working fine before I gave it to him. But he told me all he did was fool around with it and it started glitching and the battery died and it started not booting. Is there ANY way to fix this? without taking the battery out because i can't solder and I don't want to waste $100 on this -.-
I don't think it was anything he did, I think the battery dying maybe triggered something to happenLast edited by The Amazing Atheist; 01-28-2011 at 09:54 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Ya, dont take the battery out of there. They are a pain to get out, when I said that I was thinking it was a 3G or 3GS. I'm not sure what else you could try sorry. If it isnt going into dfu or recovery then there isnt much else you can do.

Yep, I already gave up on it. It'll only charge in a certain charger and won't connect to a computer lol.
