    Default Jailbreak reception/unreliability issues?

My jailbroken iphone 4 (locked to 02 but currently jailbroken & used on Orange) is so unreliable i dont quite understand whats going on? Alot of the time it just drops signal both network and wifi and says sim failure. Then i have to reset it a few times before it actually picks up signal again. I never seem to get 3G, I can only access internet via wifi when it does pick up the network. Always says could not acivate cellular data network or i have not subscribed to the data priceplan? I am on a contract too not PAYG.

Is there a cause for this and is there a solution? I have included some screenshots below.

    Thanks

It could be the iphone issue. To find out, restore to stock firmware and use it to see if the issue still exist, if it does, then go for a replacement.

It could also be due to bad sim.

So I think first of all I will contact orange and ask for a replacement micro sim as I really don't want to restore then jailbreak again. This is last resort.

Good idea, restoring is a pain, you have to do everything all over again

I phoned orange today explained the situation. After doing a couple of resets and entering various settings I reset as instructed by the orange customer services dude then the phone started with 'no service'. So he agreed to send me a replacement micro sim, but he did suggest upgrading the firmware to the latest version which obviously i cannot

So fingers crossed this is the actual issue.

even though it's an official sim, have you checked to see that the metal contacts aren't inadvertently touching the metal sim tray?

I noticed this problem on my wifes unlocked iphone 4, and a tiny clear piece of scotch tape was a perfect solution, just attach the tape on the side of the sim tray that the sim is longer, insert sim, then use a sharp knife to cutaway the excess tape.

    hope this helps!

Hi, i will certainly give this a try.

What do you mean by: have you checked to see that the metal contacts aren't inadvertently touching the metal sim tray?
